FAQs

How far in advance do I need to book an appointment?

For full grooms and baths, I am always booked out about 2-3 months so it is necessary to plan ahead and book in advance to reserve a time slot for your dog. Occasionally, I may have sooner openings due to last-minute cancellations or reschedules, so you can request to be added to my waitlist for earlier openings after you have booked an appointment.

For nail trims, anal gland expressions, and other a la carte services, I can usually find time between grooms to fit you in for an appointment within a week or two.

I have somewhere else I need to be - can I drop off my dog early before their appointment time or keep them at your place after they are finished and pick them up later?

No, in order to adhere to my one-dog-at-a-time system, no dogs from separate households will ever be in my studio simultaneously. My entire schedule each day relies on owners to drop off on time at their specified appointment time and pick up on time when their dog's groom is completed. So it is very important that you make an appointment at a time only when you can drop off at your appointment time and are also readily available for immediate pick up.

How long will my dog’s appointment take?

Length of full grooming and bath appointments vary depending on a number of factors, including breed, age, size, coat type and condition, type of service requested, temperament of the dog, etc. When you contact me for an appointment, send me current photos of your dog and tell me their size in pounds, and I could provide you with a rough estimate of timing. Please keep in mind that the very first grooming appointment may take longer as I am just getting acquainted with your dog and vice versa. A la carte service appointments are quick: unless the dog is particularly difficult to work on and uncooperative, nail trims take a few minutes and anal gland expressions take 10 seconds.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash only, due immediately upon completion of the groom. Venmo used only for taking deposits when booking first-time appointments.

Are you a mobile grooming service?

No, all services are done in my home-based studio.

Can I stay with my dog while they are getting groomed?

No, owners are not allowed to stay with their dog during the grooming session at my studio—no exceptions. The owner’s presence becomes a distraction as dogs tend to be harder to handle while they become anxious and struggle to get away from the groomer to be closer to their owner. This would make the grooming process more difficult, take longer, and may pose a risk of injury to the pet or groomer as the dog becomes agitated. See Policies page for more information.

What types of products and shampoos do you use?

All tools, equipment, and products used are top-of-the-line, premium quality professional grooming items. I use best-of-the-best lines of shampoos and conditioners by Envirogroom and Chris Christensen. I evaluate each dog's coat type and condition to select the best bathing products to use on them; if your dog has allergies, certain skin conditions, or needs a vet-prescribed medicated shampoo, please notify me and provide the product you'd like me to use.

Do you provide flea baths?

No, I do not provide flea baths nor do I accept or service dogs with fleas on them. I have such policy in place to eliminate the risk of transferring fleas to other clients' dogs.

I’ve been told, or I’m concerned, that my pet may be difficult to groom - do you take aggressive pets?

For both the dog and the groomer’s safety, owners are required to disclose any known aggressive behavior, past biting incidents, or any behavioral concerns that pertain to how the dog may act during the grooming process. I have the right to refuse service to any pet that is deemed too dangerous to handle. Please refer to the Policies page on the policy regarding Aggressive Animals & Refusal of Services.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Last-minute cancellations are costly to my business, and the potential earnings lost cannot be recovered if I do not have enough advanced notice to book another client to fill the cancelled opening. Therefore, I require at least 48 hours’ notice. See Policies page for details.

How often should I get my pet groomed?

On average, dogs should be groomed every 4-6 weeks. Of course, this depends on a lot of factors: breed, type and length of coat, how often the pet is outside or getting dirty/wet, the individual needs of each pet or owner, and the amount of time and effort an owner puts into maintaining the coat on their own. Certain breeds and certain coat types/lengths will get matted more easily and will require much more frequent grooming—some as often as every other week. Once I have met and worked on your dog, I can advise you on the best timeframe for frequency of grooming sessions.

Do you groom cats?

No, I do not offer baths or haircuts for cats, but I can do nail trims for them as long as the owner is able to help me securely hold the cat.
